Wednesday Update: Facebook Fans, Archive Sketches, & Zombies

Time for a Wednesday update, folks. Read on for how you can score some some original art, a trip to the old sketchbook archive, how to get even more original art, and of course, the Undead!

The 30 Day Challenge is Dead (Until we're done with previous 28 day Challenge)

I liked the idea of a 30 Day Challenge for April –more conceptual drawings (favorite place, favorite moment), new media (Paper for iOS by 53)– but truth is, it was hastily picked and I wasn't giving it the attention I should. PLUS, there's the whole WTFebruary Facebook Fan drawings that need to be distributed! So let's do that.

The final sketchbook is actually quite beautiful, and I thank EVERYONE who liked the Facebook Fan page and helped spread the word about my art!

In the original post, I said I'd 'give a few featured fans their original drawings' and later work out the criteria. I'm still not sure how best to do that, actually, but I am sure I'll need to know who wants theirs. So, post a comment ON THE FACEBOOK FAN PAGE if you want yours; meanwhile I'll figure out the next step!

From the Archives

I was looking through old sketchbooks last night and came across lots of good stuff to share. This spread from January '08 is among my favorites. There's some great figure work in there, as well as the germs of several ideas, some that went a little further, and some that have yet to. I found this very inspiring!

Sneak Peak: Friday the 13th

I didn't know it, but this week the theme is apparently zombies. What I started with my Easter Don Draper Zombie seems to still be running its course through my brain, and who am I to resist?

Zombie 'finger food' from '07

Friday's idea came a few weeks ago, after an exchange on Twitter with a blogging celeb. If you're already a Johnny B Truant fan, you can guess where I'm headed. This is an old sketch, but it has the look and feel of what's to come. I'll post the finished piece here Friday morning.
